Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about vtuadda and how to make the most of our resources.

What is vtuadda.com?

vtuadda.com is a free, student-built academic resource platform for Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) engineering students. We provide organized access to lecture notes, previous year question papers (PYQs), lab manuals, model question papers, and official syllabus documents for all VTU branches under the 2022 and 2025 schemes. The platform also includes SGPA and CGPA calculators. It was created by a team of AIML engineering students at JSSATEB, Bengaluru, who wanted to solve the problem of scattered, hard-to-find study materials.

Is all content on vtuadda free to use?

Yes — everything on vtuadda.com is completely free. There is no registration required, no paywall, and no subscription fee. We believe every VTU student deserves access to quality study materials regardless of their financial situation. The platform is supported by voluntary donations from students who find it helpful.

Who creates and uploads the resources?

Content is contributed by VTU students and faculty from across Karnataka. Our core team — Aryaa, Laxmi, Harshita, and Mounesh (all studying AIML at JSSATEB) — curates, organizes, and verifies every uploaded file before publishing. We also welcome contributions from anyone in the VTU community.

What if I find copyrighted material on the site?

We take copyright very seriously. If you identify any content that infringes on intellectual property rights, please email us at contact@vtuadda.com with the subject line 'Copyright Claim'. Include the URL of the content, proof of ownership, and your contact details. We investigate and remove infringing content within 48 hours of receiving a valid request.

Does vtuadda own the uploaded content?

vtuadda does not claim ownership of user-contributed study materials. All content remains the intellectual property of its respective creators. We serve as a distribution platform to help students access study materials more easily. Content that our team creates (such as subject guides and blog articles) is the intellectual property of vtuadda.

How do you handle copyright and takedown requests?

Our process is straightforward: (1) Send a takedown request to contact@vtuadda.com with proof of ownership and the URL of the content in question. (2) Our team reviews the request within 24-48 hours. (3) If the claim is valid, the content is removed immediately and the uploader is notified. We maintain zero tolerance for repeat violations.

Can I upload my own study materials?

Absolutely! We encourage contributions from the VTU student community. Visit vtuadda.com/upload, fill in your branch, semester, and subject details, and attach your PDF (max 25 MB). Please only upload content you have personally created or content that is freely shareable (such as officially released university documents). Our team reviews all contributions within 48-72 hours before publishing.

Do I need to log in or create an account?

No — all study materials are freely accessible without any account or sign-up. Simply browse by branch and semester to find what you need. An account is only required if you want to contribute or upload your own study materials through the admin panel.

How do I download study materials?

Navigate to your branch and semester, then click on the subject you need. Each resource has a download button — click it to save the PDF directly to your device. For previous year question papers (PYQs), use the Download button directly as inline preview is disabled to preserve the file quality.

What should I do if I find an error or broken link?

Please report it using the Feedback form on the homepage, or email us at contact@vtuadda.com. Describe the issue and include the page URL so we can locate it quickly. Our team typically fixes reported issues within 2-3 business days.

What VTU schemes does vtuadda support?

We currently provide resources for the VTU 2022 Scheme (covering 3rd through 8th semester students) and the 2025 Scheme (covering first-year students). As VTU introduces new schemes, we update our content to stay current with the latest syllabus and subject codes.

How do I use the SGPA and CGPA calculators?

Visit vtuadda.com/calculator. (1) Select your scheme (2022 or 2025). (2) Choose your branch and semester. (3) Your subjects and credit values will auto-populate. (4) Enter your grade (S, A, B, C, D, E, or F) for each subject. Your SGPA is calculated instantly. For CGPA, switch to the CGPA tab and enter the SGPA of each completed semester to get your cumulative average.

How can I support the vtuadda project?

The best way to support us is by sharing vtuadda with your classmates and friends. If you find the platform useful, you can also make a small voluntary donation to help us cover hosting and development costs. Additionally, contributing your own study materials helps the entire VTU community.

Is there a mobile app for vtuadda?

There is no standalone app, but vtuadda.com works as a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means it provides an app-like experience on your phone. On Android, open vtuadda.com in Chrome, tap the browser menu, and select 'Add to Home Screen'. On iPhone, open the site in Safari, tap the Share button, and select 'Add to Home Screen'. This gives you instant access from your home screen without needing a download from any app store.
